Dozens Of Animals Go Through Livestock Sale Ring; Here Are The Champions

A long week of Kimball-Banner County Fair activities concluded Saturday with the livestock sale, the Rubber Check Race and a dance in the arena.

At the livestock sale, dozens of animals went through the sale ring with premium bids totaling thousands of dollars. Thirteen swine went through, along with 12 sheep, 30 beef and 31 goats.

In the swine division Trey Cook had the overall FFA grand champion swine, followed by Jax Toth with the reserve. Trey also had the overall 4-H grand champion hog and Bodee Carruthers won the reserve. Tatum Medina had the grand champion ultrasound hog.

In the sheep, Wyatt Cook, Trey’s twin brother took the overall FFA grand champion sheep. FFA reserve champion was Aubrey Culek. Cruz Medina had the 4-H grand champion sheep and Britton Culek had the reserve.

Overall grand champion in the beef show was Kasyn Snyder, and Aubrey Cuelk with the reserve. Wyatt Cook struck again with the FFA reserve champion and the Olsen boys, Luke and Gabe, took grand and reserve Rate of Gain. Chance Johnson and Taylor Whitney followed up with grand and reserve ultrasound.

Finally, in the goat show, Cashlyn Culek had overall grand champion with Temperance Griebel overall all reserve.

Heading up the FFA category was Andie West, and Karsyn Chesley was reserve champion. Makenna Thurin took the ribbon in rate of gain, and Olivia Toth had reserve. Tallyn Chesly had grand champion ultrasound goat.

On Tuesday and Thursday, over 55 youngsters tried their luck riding sheep, by far the most popular event. The PRCA Rodeo treated Kimball residents to bareback riding, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, breakaway and barrel racing.

Successful events like the mini bull riding, catch-a-calf, the gymkana and the rubber check race brought lots of people to watch the weeklong evening activities.
