Feral Cat Effort Continues With New Approach

The Keno Funds for the Feral Cat program this year have been exhausted in Kimball, but two individuals have stepped up to continue working to control the feral cat population in Kimball County in a humane way.

Sherrie Stevenson and Dawn Hinton took 17 kitties/cats to be spayed/neutered at the Northern Colorado Friends of Feral clinic over the weekend.

The Keno Funds are used only within the city limits of Kimball, but Hinton and Stevenson are accepting Kimball County, Dix and Bushnell cats for their program.

Owners are asked to pay $50 per cat and it covers spay/neuter, gas and vaccination. Hinton and Stevenson take the cats to Fort Collins, Colo., then wait for all to be treated and bring them home on the same day.

With their first program completed, Stevenson and Hinton will operate another clinic run on Sept. 8. Then two more programs will occur, one in October and one in November.
