Good morning, summer weather is still with us, however we have had several decent rain showers here this past week. Welcome stuff even though it seems like I mow the yard every other day!
School has started and we are seeing fall sports on our schedules as well as other fall festivals and celebrations.
One of those is the adult reading program that is held at the Leid Library in Scottsbluff. It is in session through October 18th. Adults are encouraged to learn the use of the many resources available and there are several educational and entertainment events.
Meadowlark Hearth Farms will host an Ancestral Skills workshop today through September 1st. The session for today begins at 8 a.m. and the last session will end at 5 p.m. on the 1st. Over all these days, you can learn how about making arrowheads, wilderness skills, wild crafting and more.
Sept. 1st will be an open day with exhibits, demonstrations, and hands on activities. They are located 5 miles east of Scottsbluff on 120024 Everett Drive. For more information contact them at [email protected].
Also today also, the middle school cross country team will be competing at Scottsbluff at 3:30 p.m. and the varsity team will run at 4 p.m. At the same time the varsity volleyball girls will be in Hyannis for matches which are to begin at 4 p.m.
On Friday, August 30th you will see action here at home as the Wildcats football team takes on Sioux County at 2:30 p.m. and volleyball begins at 4:30 p.m. Good luck to all of you and safe travel.
The 93rd annual Potter Days celebration on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 will begin with a 5k color run at 8 a.m. on the 31st, followed by a parade at 10 a.m.
Now back to the school news, and it is September! On the 3rd, the volleyball team will head to Hay Springs for games that will begin at 4 p.m.
On the 4th there will be live music as “Music ff the Plains” by David Marsh will be at Centennial Park, 400 E 20th in Scottsbluff. This will begin at 6 p.m., and in case of bad weather it move to the Leid Library in Scottsbluff.
