Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
September is here, and with it, we celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month. Kimball Public Library invites all members of our community to sign up for a free library card.
Children ages 5 and up are encouraged to have their own card. A library card can be a rite of passage for children, giving them a sense of responsibility.
As library patrons, children learn the importance of caring for things that belong to others. Children take the essential early step in their development when they obtain their library card and become conscientious members of the community.
Our library has so much to offer patrons of all ages and abilities. Visiting your library with your children encourages them to read. Reading helps with their developing brain functions, including literary skills and language.
Most young ones can’t travel all around the world, but a book can take them anywhere. Teaching children at a young age to use their imagination helps them throughout their lives. Reading sparks curiosity. Your library opens doors to the whole world.
Some children feel more connected to their community when they utilize their personal card. All the staff here love to give a child their first library card. It is a wonderful sight to see – an excited child running to get a new book that they get to check out themselves.
Part of our mission statement is to encourage lifelong learning. It’s very exciting to watch that journey begin. We provide access to a wide range of educational resources, including e-books, audiobooks, and so much more.
So, join us this month in celebrating National Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover or rediscover all that your Kimball Public Library has to offer.
