Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
What an unforgettable day six young ladies had as they each demonstrated their talents, knowledge and beauty in a contest to determine who would represent Kimball this coming year as the new Kimball Rodeo queen and princess.
The morning started Sept. 7 with introductions and individual interviews with this years judges: Myrna Harper from Indianola, NE, Emily Cameron (a former Miss CFD) from Carpenter, WY, and Donn Randall from Pine Bluffs,WY.
Each contestant presented a 2-3 minute speech to the judges and the small audience on "Their Favorite Rodeo Event." They were each asked to answer several impromptu questions, some serious and some funny, after they modeled their fashionable Western dresses and attire.
Following a short break for lunch, the ladies changed into their arena attire and saddled up their horses for the most favored part of the contest: horsemanship.
One by one, they each preformed a required pattern, followed by a freestyle pattern that they chose for themselves. Our panel of judges again interviewed each girl individually on their knowledge of horsemanship and rodeo. Remounting their horses, they each demonstrated carrying a flag on their horse and then paraded their "Queen Run" as they exited the arena. Points were given to each contestant in each of the judged categories, and were tallied up to decide the overall winners.
Each of the girls that competed did an exceptional job and the judging process proved to be very difficult with the talented contestants.
Our community should be proud that such eligible young women live among us and each one of them is a WINNER for just competing and doing such a fine job!!
We would like to take this one last opportunity to thank our outgoing royalty, Queen Emily Whitney and Princess Giorgetta Vara for doing such a first rate and superb job of representing Kimball and our PRCA Rodeo this past year. They made us so proud.
With that all said, we are overjoyed to announce that the new 2024-25 Kimball Rodeo queen is Taylor Whitney and the princess is Carly Norberg. We look forward to an exciting and sensational year with our new royalty.
