John E. Faden II, age 73, passed away on September 9, 2024, at Regional West Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 1, 1951, in Scottsbluff, NE, to John (Jack) and Beverly (Klase) Faden.
Raised on the family farm and ranch near Harrisburg, NE, John developed a deep connection to the land and rural life. He attended the local school and graduated from Banner County High School in 1969. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Chadron State College in 1973, after which he had a career in education, teaching at secondary schools across the Nebraska panhandle.
For over 40 years, John worked alongside his father and younger brother on the family farm and ranch, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to his roots. In 1984, he married Daria Anderson, and together they built a home in Kimball, NE, raising two sons, John-Robert and Patrick Faden.
In addition to his teaching and farming work, John later worked for the city of Kimball until his passing. He had a passion for craftsmanship, becoming skilled in saddle making and leather work. He was an avid collector of western art and, in his later years, took up painting, finding joy in creative expression.
John is survived by his wife, Daria of Kimball, NE; his sons, John-Robert (Alyssa) of Harrisburg, NE, and Patrick of Shanghai, China; his siblings, Jo Wells of Kimball, NE; Mark Faden of Banner County, NE; Jan Bloyd of Bridgeport, NE; and Eilene Reiber of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren Mesa and Upton, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Bev.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for his family, and his lasting contributions to his community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A private gravesite service will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, NE.
