Horns Prepare For Pivotal Road Clash At Hemingford

The Kimball Longhorns are gearing up for a crucial road game this Friday, taking on the 2-1 Hemingford Bobcats in what promises to be a challenging matchup.

Fresh off a dominant 70-8 victory over Bayard, Hemingford enters the game with considerable momentum and a well-rounded performance on both offense and defense.

For the Longhorns, this game presents a significant test. While they too secured a comfortable win over Bayard earlier in the season, defeating them 54-26, facing the surging Bobcats on the road will require a much stronger defensive effort. Kimball’s defense, in particular, will need to step up against Hemingford’s high-powered offense, which has proven difficult to contain in recent games.

Key to Kimball’s chances will be standout sophomore Greg Bingham, who has been a force on both sides of the ball, averaging 137 rushing yards and 6 tackles per game while Noe Trevino, a senior who has been a consistent contributor, will look to add to his 82 receiving yards per game to help spark the Longhorns’ offense.

“We know Hemingford is solid this year, and we’re going to have to play very well to give them a run,” said Kimball head coach Darrel Hewitt. “I think they will struggle with our speed, if we can match their physicality.”

Kimball will also be looking to rebound from a tough 68-14 home loss to North Platte St. Pat’s last Friday, September 13. Despite their best efforts, the Longhorns struggled to keep pace with a dominant St. Pat’s team.

“I was proud of the boys and how they played against St. Pat’s,” Hewitt added. “But we have to find a way to get our size and strength up to match teams like that.”

With both teams coming off contrasting results – Hemingford riding high and Kimball looking to recover – the stage is set for an intense and closely watched game. How the Longhorns respond to last week’s defeat will not only test their mettle but could also shape the trajectory of their season moving forward.
