Roll Out The Red Carpet ... It's Homecoming Week!

Banner County

Good morning! Harvest moon many an evening this past week, and much cooler too!

This week is homecoming and for the first part of the week there were costumes celebrating America, country dudes and county clubbers, and rhymes without reason. Today, September 26th you may find them dressed for the red carpet, (pretty snazzy I would say), with a tailgate party between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and a bonfire and coronation that evening.

Tomorrow volleyball will begin at 5 p.m. followed by football at 7 p.m. The Homecoming 2024 Dance will follow the game.

Team going down is Creek Valley. Good luck Wildcats!

Tonight, September 26th, is Girls Night Out at 17 W. 16th St. in Scottsbluff, time is 6 - 9 p.m. The movie this week at the Midwest Theater is “Snack Shack.” First two showings are the 27th at 1:30 & 7 p.m.; then it’s at 7 p.m. on the 28th and again at 1:30 p.m. on the 29th.

Do any of you remember the Sugar Shack in Mitchell? My Uncle George built that and ran it as a family business for many years. I think it is a sub shop now.

Saturday the 28th will find the Morrill and 18th Street Markets open, and the 13th annual Monument Marathon at the Five Rocks Amphitheater will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also at the Midwest on this date at 10 a.m., you can go watch Nebraska vs. Purdue on the Big Screen!

The middle school volleyball team will compete in Bayard at 9 a.m., and the 28th is the Opening weekend of the Adams Family Farm Pumpkin Patch Festival. For that weekend they will open at 10 a.m. and close on Sunday at 5 p.m. If you are unfamiliar with them they are located at 230710 Highland Road. Food trucks, vendors and pumpkins of all colors, shapes and sizes!

Sunday the 29th the Rock Church in Scottsbluff will host “Weborg 21 Centre Celebration Sunday” between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

On Monday the 30th, and last day in September, the middleschool girls volleyball team will be headed to Minatare for a triangular, and game time is 4 p.m. The third competitor will be Morrill.

On Wednesday, October 2nd, both middle school girls and boys will head to Minatare once again. The girls will play at 1 p.m. with the boys football at 2 p.m.

On that same date the FFA students involved in Land Judging will be in Scottsbluff for District competition.

Good luck to you all throughout the week, and safe travel.

Well all I have for now, see you next October! Take care until next time. Barb Cross 436-7152.
