Farmer's Day 2024

Kimball's Celebration Returns For 98th Time This Weekend With A Packed Lineup

As the town gears up for its 98th Farmer's Day celebration, the Kimball Public Library is set to be a central hub of activity, featuring a silent auction that promises a variety of enticing items.

With the theme "Our Land, Our Legacy," this year's festivities will kick off on Friday, Sept. 27, and continue through the weekend, showcasing both new events and beloved traditions.

The silent auction, taking place on Friday and Saturday, will include unique items, such as an under-bed safe, themed book baskets, and a selection of gift cards. This event aims to support the library's ongoing programs while providing the community with fun opportunities to bid on appealing items. The auction will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and close at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

In addition to the auction, the library will also host a book sale, bake sale and craft sale, making it a must-visit destination during Farmer's Day.

"The silent auction is to raise money to purchase a new 3D printer," library director Amber Sweetland said. "The printer is one of the most popular items in our Makerspace, and our current one went down a few months ago.

"The library's annual budget provides for our operating expenses. When we want to provide additional services, equipment, or programs, we need to fund raise or find grants."

Friday kicks off with the exciting Bike Races at 5 p.m. on Second Street, which promises to draw a crowd between Bemis Pharmacy and Points West Community Bank.

The annual Soup Supper at the Senior Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. also will be a highlight of Friday evening, allowing attendees to enjoy delicious chili, chicken noodle and potato soup, and connect with neighbors.
