Fall Is In The Air & Leaves Are On The Ground

Banner County

Good morning! Heading into November with a pretty high downfall in our weather pattern!

The trees are beautiful in their bright oranges, yellows and reds and you know what I will be doing one of these days when they finally quit falling.

Today is Halloween and there are several places over the hill holding Trunk or Treat events and it is simpler to just list their times and locations, so here they are:

On Broadway in Scottsbluff from 4-6 p.m .; at 2001 Ave. B at 4:30 p.m. ; Legacy of the Plains beginning at 5 p.m .; and at Bethel Baptist Church in Scottsbluff at 6 p.m.

Also on the 31st, The Newberry’s Halloween Market at 402 Box Butte Avenue in Alliance will host Downtown Trunk or Treat beginning at 3:30 p.m. and at Fort Robinson they will have a Haunted Halloween between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.

There will be Halloween Trick or Treating between 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church at 617 W 33rd. Street.

And there is school the next day. However, before we move on to November, I will mention that the weekend movie at the Midwest Theater begins on the 31st at 7 p.m. with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice . It will also play the following day at 1:30 and 7:00 p.m. and on the 2nd at 7 p.m. and for the final time on the 3rd at 1:30 p.m.

Friday is the 1st day of November 2024, and the middle school Wildcat wrestlers will host many teams from the area in an all day meet that will begin at 9 a.m. The rest of the student population will have a NO School Day.

Later that day at 6 p.m it will be Board Game Night at the Gering Library and everyone is invited, and at 7:30 p.m. there will be a choral concert at WNCC titled “Show Me The Way.”

At 5:30 p.m. through the following day at 3:00 p.m., Wreaths By Marguerita at Vintage Treasures Craft & Food Expo will be open at the Gering Civic Center.

Saturday, November 2nd. at 9 a.m. the annual Holidaze Craft & Vendor Show will be in the Bridgeport Community Center until 3 p.m. They are expecting goods created from leather and wood, plus candles, soaps and much more!

The 16th annual Warrior Run will have registration at 9-10 a.m. at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering and a 10k run will begin at 10:10 a.m. followed by a 5k walk/run at 10:20 a.m.

Storytime at the Gering Public Library will run from 10-11 a.m. and the Family Nature Club will meet at the Scottsbluff National Monument between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. to discuss Nature’s Nighttime Ninja’s – Owls!

The French Door in Sidney will have a Christmas open house that day beginning at 10:00 a.m. If you have never been there they are located at 1516 10th Avenue, a fun place!

Also, if you forgot to change your clocks back at 2 a.m. Sunday, here is just a little reminder!

On Tuesday, November 5th, GO Vote! The courthouse is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

And at the middle school, wrestlers will head to Kimball and hit the matts at 10:00 a.m. Good luck to all of you sports teams, and travel safely.

All for now, take care until next time! Barb Cross at 436-7152.
