Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
For the second time in two days, Gloria Gonzales went missing last week. She was found both times but not without a very long and extensive search in Kimball and surrounding areas, a credit to the dedication of the search teams.
Numerous agencies were involved in the search for Gonzales, including CERT teams from Kimball, Scottsbluff and Sidney, the Nebraska State Patrol with a drone, Kimball police, the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department, Kimball County Sheriff's Office, Kimball EMS, and Region 21 Emergency Management, along with many citizens and local residents.
Gonzales, 75, is reported to suffer from dementia, and other medical problems were discovered after a lengthy search on Thursday. She was found about 2:30 a.m. at the golf course area.
The sheriff's log and radio communications stated that searchers had wrapped her in a jacket and were awaiting emergency personnel. While waiting, she was eating pumpkin seeds and drinking water, she was cold but alert as they awaited EMS. Gonzales was taken to Kimball Health Services at about 3 a.m.
By 8:45 a.m., Gonzales was missing again. She left her residence at 112 South Howard, and numerous sightings and tips were reported north of the underpass, across the street from Kwik Stop, and beet truck drivers reported sightings.
All hands were on deck again searching abandoned buildings, under bridges, abandon cars, railroad right aways, alleys, and rural yards. After an all day search, apparently Gonzales walked down her alley and walked into the back door of her residence at 112 Howard.
Once again, EMS took Gonzales to Kimball Health Services.
