Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
MORRILL – The Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes finished their season strong with four straight wins, and earned the number two seed in the D1-12 SubDistrict Tournament at Morrill Elementary School. On Monday, October 28, 2024, they were matched in their first round contest against the number three seed Hemingford, a team they had not played during the regular season.
The Lady Coyotes started the match strong, outmatching the Lady Bobcats and taking the first set 25-to-12. The Potter-Dix momentum continued with an outstanding second set, and after the set ended in the Lady Coyotes’ favor 25-to-12, the Potter-Dix girls had the Hemingford squad on the ropes.
But the Lady Bobcats fought back hard, and were able to push past the Lady Coyotes down the stretch to take the 25-to-19 third set win. The fourth set was a tough battle between the teams, but Potter-Dix held on to secure the last few points for a 25-to-22 win and a 3-to-1 match victory.
Number one seed Morrill was able to put away number four seed Kimball in straight sets in the first round of the tournament, and Potter-Dix and Morrill were then set to play for the SubDistrict Title on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. The powerful Lady Lions team lost a match to Potter-Dix in Potter at the end of September, so the matchup looks to be evenly matched.
