Veterans Day Program Monday At Banner County School

Banner County

Good morning! Here is hoping that you are beginning to adjust to the time change, pain that it is in my humble opinion!

Also voting is OVER, yay, no more mud slinging for a little while, at least I hope so.

The trees are really getting bare, but the lawns are still a nice emerald green in a lot of places. Funny looking out the window!

Sort of a busy week ahead for us, with Veterans Day being the most important.

First, however, today, November 7th, you are offered to join in a class titled “Beginning Sourdough Bread” out at WNCC, 2620 College Park, between 6 and 8 p.m.

And today is also the Western Nebraska Art’s Center opening reception of “Handmade Christmas,” which will be on display through December 29th. The doors are open to the public between 5 and 7 p.m.

Friday the 8th is the first night of the weekend movie at the Midwest Theater. At 1:30 p.m. “Super/Man–The Christopher Reeves Story” will play, and as part of Ladies Night Out, it will play again at 7 p.m. Holiday shopping and a movie! The movie will also be shown on the 8th at 7 p.m. and on the 9th at 1:30 p.m.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, the snnual Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department Breakfast will be at 1204 Center Avenue;

At 9 a.m., you are invited to rid yourself of any unused and old pharmaceuticals by heading out to the Greenhouse at the NPNRD, 100547 Airport Road.

The Farmers Market will be open at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

If you are in Mitchell, you are pretty close to Agate Fossil Beds and they are having a Beaded Ornament Class from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You need to call for a reservation on this one and the number is 308-436-9760.

At 1 p.m. the Chess Club will meet at the Gering Public Library, and you are invited to play, watch or learn.

Then at 3 p.m., if you make an appointment ahead of time, there will be a FREE car seat check. This is located at 1801 Ave. B

Monday, November 11th, is Veterans Day and I do want to thank you all for your service. Our freedom is a result of your sacrifice.

The annual Veterans Day program at the school will begin with a breakfast for all vets at 8:30 a.m., followed by a program in the gym.

There will also be a Veterans Day parade in Scottsbluff beginning at 11 a.m. on 19th Avenue on East Overland and heading east to 3rd.

Here at home on the 11th, the middle school wrestlers will head to Lingle-Fort Laramie and hit the mats at 1 p.m., and the regular school board meeting will be in the cafeteria at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday the 13th, there will be an Ag Conference for FFA students in Scottsbluff between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Safe travel and best of luck to you all.

I will close this with sincere sympathy to the family of Cherie Olsen, who passed away unexpectedly.

Just a little side note, there will be a painting class here at home real soon.

That is all for now. Have a great week and take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
