Local Voters Say Yes To Ag, History

Historical, Ag Societies Asked Voters For More Funding On Ballot Questions

After 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Kimball County Clerk Cathy Sibal released the unofficial results of the Nov. 5 general election. Official results will not be available until the canvassing board meets on Nov. 13.

On the local scene, Kimball County Agricultural Society requested up to a 1.15 cents levy on $100 of taxable valuation was narrowly passed by the voters with 853 voting yes and 789 voting no.

The other levy request from the Plains Historical Society was successful by a slim margin of 818 for and 799 against.

Both candidates for Kimball City Council will be seated in December. Jamie Murdoch received 672 votes while Austin Garner received 743 votes.

The Kimball Airport Authority Board had two open seats with Sarah Ludwig on the ballot receiving 764 votes and write-in candidate Ryan McElroy with 77 votes and write-in candidate Dave Hickman with 10 votes. Both Ludwig and McElroy will serve on the Airport Authority Board.

On the county side, David R. Hottell had no opposition for county commissioner and received 1,494 votes.

Bushnell Village Board had three candidates running: Gene Russum, Jessica Rocha and Gail Luehr. All three will serve.

Both Dave Parshall and Daniel Mardt were elected to the Dix Village Board.

Incumbent U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts handily defeated challenger Preston Love.

In the other Senate race, incumbent Republican Deb Fischer received 1,197 votes in the county and independent challenger Dan Osborn received 472 votes.

Incumbent House of Representative Republican Adrain Smith easily won Kimball County and is expected to be re-elected for a two year term for District 3.

Voter turn out was 66.18%.
