A Huge Moon, A Cool Yule & Turkey Day

Banner County

Good morning! We have been having cooler weather for sure but still very nice for this time of the year. That huge moon has been beautiful also!

With Thanksgiving in the near future, let us hope the weather stays nice for all of those travelers out there.

Events for today, November 21st, that I am aware of include the Food for Thought Club meeting at the city chambers meeting room in Gering at 1:30 p.m. and a Sourdough Bread class at 2620 College Park, WNCC, which will begin at 6 p.m.

On the 22nd, Banner County School grades 6-12 will have an E-Learning Day, training in the online education services and how to use them. Grades K-5th will have a regular OEF Friday.

At 7 p.m. at the Midwest Theater, Shaun Johnson will give an example of the Big Band Experience with the presentation of his “Cool Yule Holiday Show.” Saturday the 23rd, the 2024 Turkey Trot will begin at 8 a.m. at 1918 S Beltline, the Monument Valley Pathway, by the YMCA . This is a 5K walk/run for any and all interested turkeys!

At 9 a.m. there will be a Bob Ross painting class at 2620 College Park, and in Mitchell at 10:30 a.m. there will be a Winter Porch Pot Make-N-Take, 140090 Brookway Drive at 10:30 a.m.

Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. the Winter Farmers market will be open at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering.

That evening between 5:30 - 7 p.m. the Chuck Wagon Church in Scottsbluff is hosting a FREE Thanksgiving Dinner.

Sunday the 24th is Celebrate Sunday at the Weborg 21 Centre at 11 a.m. The Midwest Theater will have two showings of the movie “Across the River and Into the Trees.”

The annual Christmas Dinner at Fort Robinson is not until December 7th, but tickets are available now by calling 308-665-2900 for more information.

I hope you attended the One Act Play this past Friday, but if you missed it the all-school performance will be at 2 p.m. on November 26th. A comedy of sorts, and a very nice evening out last Friday. The name is “Posi-Chip Poker by Chris Stiles.”

Also on the 26th, the middle school girls will have a basketball game here at 3:30 p.m. and the opponent is Scottsbluff.

Thanksgiving is next Thursday and there will be NO School from the 27th to the 29th.

Have a great week and take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
