Four Arrested On Drug Charges

Arrests Were Made Over Three Days

The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office last week arrested four people in three days on drug charges.

On Nov. 19, as a result of a bond search, Chalkie Langley, 62 and Amanda Joy, 49, both residing in Dix, were arrested.

According to the affidavit, a search was conducted at 106-108 Pine St. in Dix, and officers located in Chalkie’s bedroom a “bag that was vacuum sealed with a large amount of white powdery crystal substance along with several needles.”

The substance tested positive for meth, according to court records.

Also found, according to the affidavit, was “a knife that had a blade larger than 3.5 inches belonging to Chalkie. He is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess a large knife.”

Both Langley and Joy were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Langley had a bond reviewed on Tuesday while Amanda Joy bonded out.

On Nov. 18, while a probation search was being conducted, Natalie Heigis, 37, who had been living in Kimball a few weeks, was arrested for possession of controlled a substance at 1204 E. 3rd St. The substance identified as meth. She also was charged with possession of marijuana, an infraction.

Rounding out the three days was the arrest of Joanna Phillips, 43.

Deputy Mike Youngquist was dispatched to 401 Park St. in Kimball on a domestic matter in reference to Phillips. He gathered information and “ran her through dispatch to check for any outstanding warrants and was advised that she had an active felony warrant.”

Youngquist’s affidavit continues, “Before placing her into handcuffs I asked Joanna to empty her pockets. Joanna pulled a small plastic baggie that contained 2 smaller baggies from her left front pocket.” Preliminary tests indicated a positive for methamphetamine.

Phillips was charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was in court on Tuesday.
