New Ordiance Adopted To Address 'Backyard Chicken' Issue
After a short stint on the Kimball Board of Public Works, former Mayor Greg Robinson was sworn in to take a seat on the Kimball City Council at its meeting last Tuesday, Nov. 19.
After the official swearing in, the council approved the consent agenda which was composed of the past minutes, claims, and financials.
The first item on the agenda was Ordinance #832-Chicken Permit. In an effort to simplify the backyard chicken issue, Ordinance #832 provides for a special use permit to be issued.
The previous Ordinance #755 was repealed and the conditions of the chicken ordinance remain essentially the same:
• No more than four chickens/hens are permitted.
• No roosters.
• No slaughtering.
• Chickens must be cared for abiding by certain criteria.
The new chicken ordinance was approved.
Other approved items included WSP Global Engineering's proposal for permit renewal for the Kimball Landfill Transfer permit and the Landfill Municipal Solid Waste permit.
The next Kimball City Council meeting is scheduled for Dec. 3.
