Good morning here in the middle of December! Christmas is on everyone’s mind, as well it should be. Almost everything in this newsletter is in some way Christmas related, so here we go.
Here at home, December 12th, the elementary students will be heading to Heritage Estates to bring some Christmas caroling cheer, and there will be a homeschool program at 10 a.m. at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center.
Also, at 10 a.m. there will be Storytime at the Scottsbluff Library. At 3 p.m. in Sidney, Sensory Night at the “All is Bright Christmas Tour” will begin and go through 7 p.m. – and it will begin the following day at 4 p.m.
Also on the 12th, the Riverside Discovery Center will host Wild Lights between 5-7 p.m. This will also be open on the 13th & 14th.
Friday, just because it is the 13th, is not going to slow down the activity volume. Our high school wrestlers will take on Niobrara County on their home site. That evening the varsity girls basketball team will play Bayard at 5 p.m. and the boys will follow at 7 p.m. on their home turf.
The Midwest Theater will play “The Santa Clause” at 1:30 p.m. Between 6 and 8 p.m. the Terry Town Tour of Lights will be held, ending at the Carpenter Center, where you will find a special guest, treats and hot cocoa.
On Dec. 14 at 9 a. m., you will find a December Bob Ross painting class at 2620 College Park, WNCC.
If you are headed south, you can join in on the Santa Dash at Kimball Health Services. There will be a 5k fun run and 1-mile walk. The registration fee is one new unwrapped toy for a child from pre-k to the 6th grade. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The Winter Farmers Market opens at the Legacy of the Plains Museum at 10 a.m. and goes through 1 p. m. Meanwhile, “A Very CAPWN Christmas” will be at the Midwest Theater between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Our varsity basketball teams will be headed to Peetz with the girls playing at 1 p.m. and the boys at 2:30 p.m. There will be a Holiday Hike starting at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center at 1 p.m., and over that hill at WNCC’s John H. Harms Center you can create a Fabric Collage with Cathy project titled, Christmas.
At 7 p.m., the Midwest Theater will show “Christmas Vacation” for its 35th anniversary.
On Sunday, December 15th, an event at 9 a.m. by the WestWay Christian Church, 1701 W 27th in Scottsbluff, is “Waiting for the King.” And in Morrill at 11:30 a m., you can Shop with a Cop.
Later that evening at 6 p.m. you can watch “Silent Night, Deadly Night” at the Midwest Theater in recognition of its 40th anniversary.
On Monday the 16th, besides starting your regular work week, at noon the Nebraska Western Arts Center will host Bach’s Lunch. They are located at 108 E 18th Street in Scottsbluff. More information: 308-632-2226.
On Wednesday the 18th, Jingle Bells Story Time will be at the Gering Library
