Baby, It's Cold Outside

Banner County

Good morning! Baby it’s cold outside! Winter is finally showing us what it is all about.

I am ready for spring. Due to the snow and ice, church was cancelled this past Sunday. Hopefully it won’t be this way for the next few months.

We are still a little light on the activity side of life, and for many that is OK. Gives us a chance to slow down and just breathe after the holiday rush.

Today, January 9th, there will be an After School Art Class at Elodie’s Oddities for one hour beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Two days later, there will be a Stained Glass Mushroom project at 1 p.m. for the older crafters.

On Friday, January 10th it will be a regular day of school and there will be varsity boys basketball here at home. The game will start at 6 p.m. vs. Hay Springs.

The weekend movie at the Midwest Theater will begin that day also with a 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. showing of the movie “Conclave,” which is rated PG. It will show the next evening at 7 p.m. and finally on Sunday the 12th at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday the 11th the high school wrestlers will be in Garden County and hit the mats at 9 a.m.; the middle school girls basketball team will play Cody-Kilgore at noon, and so will the middle school boys, same time; and at 3 p.m. the girls varsity team will play with the varsity boys following at 4:30 p.m. All games are at Cody-Kilgore.

The Winter Farmers Market continues on Saturdays at the Legacy of the Plains Museum between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Banner County School Board will hold its regular meeting on Monday the 13th at 7 p.m.

If you are interested in taking an online course in Food Preservation, the University of Wyoming Extension in conjunction with the University of Idaho Extension will offer a six week course beginning soon. More information is available at 307-746-3531 or at [email protected].

Tuesday the 14th the varsity boys and girls basketball teams will be playing at Guernsey-Sunrise. The varsity girls will play at 4:30 p.m. and the boys usually play afterwards.

The 15th, the FFA students will head to Alliance for State Degree interviews.

Safe travel and best of luck to each of you this week.

Here is just a heads-up. On the 17th, there will be a live performance at the Midwest Theater. Riders in the Sky will perform at 7 p.m.

Well, that is all for now. Stay warm and take care until the next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
