Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Breakfast will be served at the Eagles in downtown Kimball on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The breakfast, in conjunction with a silent auction. will help with medical, travel and expenses for 9-month-old Brigsley Hinton, daughter of Trevan and Hope Hinton.
At four months of age, Brigsley was diagnosed with a low grade brain tumor. She continues to need medical attention and regularly travels to Denver.
Silent auction items will be available for live bidding during the breakfast.
On Monday evening this week, Brigsley’s mom, Hope, provided an update on little Brigsley’s condition. She posted, “With our surrounding communities rallying behind us and the overwhelming amount of love and support we have been shown, we want to give everyone an update on Brigsley. Brigsley had a MRI Dec. 13th to track the size of her tumor.
“We unfortunately did not receive the news we wanted. Her tumor was not responding to chemotherapy she was on and it, along with several large cysts, have continued to grow. Discussion of starting a new chemotherapy and a craniotomy to drain the cysts began. Last weekend Brigsley took a turn for the worse and her doctors wanted her in Denver.
“After an MRI we found out her shunt catheter had embedded itself in her tumor and was not working properly. She underwent another shunt revision surgery January 1st. We also had several lengthy conversations with Brigsley’s doctors regarding her feeding situation. Brigsley has had an NG feeding tube since October 10th.
“We know it’ll be several, several months before Brigsley is able to sufficiently consume enough calories by herself to not require assistance from a feeding device. We decided it would be best to switch her to a G tube. Her doctors were able to perform the G tube surgery while she was already under for an MRI to make sure her new shunt was working properly.
“We are waiting on Brigsley’s neurosurgeons to schedule her craniotomy. Two weeks post-craniotomy we will start Brigsley on her new chemotherapy that will be given orally, once a day for two years. This has and will continue to be a long battle, but it’s one we know she can fight, especially with the team she has in her corner. The team is made up of her family, friends, and community members. 2025 is Brigsley’s year to heal.”
